Purple Heart and Gold Star recipients were honored at a special event on August 5th held at Avenue of the Flags in Buellton. Sponsors for the event were the Cloverlane Foundation and Santa Ynez Community Outreach. During the opening ceremony, Pam Gnekow, CEO of SYV Community Outreach and Gerald Chase, Founder of Cloverlane welcomed everyone and thanked them for being there. Chuck Hrehor, Purple Heart Recipient did the Pledge of Allegiance followed with prayer led by William Gnekow, MD. Vice Mayor of Buellton, John Sanchez also welcomed everyone to beautiful Buellton.
Al Salge, VFW Commander of Solvang and Jaculin R. Peterson presented commemorative pins to our Purple Heart recipients. Jaculin, Ambassador for Women’s Veterans Affairs also presented white roses to Gold Star families and spoke about her work with women veterans. Ranger Hall of Fame member, Ronnie Imel shared his military experiences. American Veterans United, Inc. Vice President Area 1, Clettus McDonell introduced their new President, Frank Renteria who talked about the Purple Heart Medal history and also offered his appreciation for veterans and military.
